Yesterday (Tuesday)about 1:00 p.m. we took Lucas down for surgery. After meeting the surgeon and anesthisiologist I felt much more comfortable about the surgery, although I knew everything would be okay after Mike and JD gave him a blessing Monday night. I still had to hold back the tears as they push my baby away. As a mother you feel responsible for all of their needs, and I wanted to be there for him even though I knew he was in good hands. About an hour later Dr Black came in and told me that "Lucas did great!" So 20 minutes later I went into recovery to get him and it has been uphill from there. He had to wait until 10:00 pm to eat, and all he got as 1/2 oz of pedialite, which he didn't like. 3 hours later the same thing...but the nurse was nice and flavored it orange, and he chugged it down. Then he got 1 oz of half breast milk half pedialite and so and and so on. He is now able to have 1.5 oz of breast milk and he seems satisfied with that. He has been spitting up a little because his reflex to throw up is still really strong. They weighted him today and he is up to 9.1 oz. The nurse says he has good bowel sounds, so we know it is making it through! I will be glad when this chapter of my life is past, and I am sure Lucas would say the same!

I am so glad he is doing better, thank goodness for modern medicine! Those pictures are so sad, poor little boy!
Im happy to hear he is doing better. Scared me a little when I read the first one. And Im sorry to both you and Sting Wray for having to sleep on the uncomfortable chairs. He told me they suck. If you guys need anything Im here and Cari said she is willing to do whatever too.
What a cute little trooper. Although, sometimes I think it's harder on us Moms than it is on these kids. Especially when you have to give up control like that and put your trust in someone you don't even know. I guess the real trust is in the Lord and that it will work out.
Wow! You guys have some trials with your babies.... good thing you are strong and the lord always blesses your through it all. I was thinking 9 lbs is stll more than my kids at 2 months! hehehe. Wish I was there to help out!
how do you type a big sigh of relief? he's already a tough guy at a month old, and could it be??....even cuter!!! i'll be glad for you when you have him home. thanks for the update!! love you guys!
We are so glad to hear that things are going well. The pictures look all too familiar. Please let us know if we can do anything to help out!
I am glad to see the update and that things are going well. I know all to well about wanting to be there for your baby, I have had my struggles with Chloie more than once and it never gets easier to see your child in that condition. I know all too well what things are like, I hope that things continue to go well. Our prayers are with you!
